Charlottesville Summer Camp Wedding
Mary & Johnny have been together since high school and after 12 years of building a life and adventuring together Johnny popped the BIG QUESTION on their trip to Iceland! On top of a waterfall Johnny surprised his high school sweetheart and asked her to marry him and she said, “ YES!” They wanted a non-traditional wedding and since they both love the outdoors why not have a summer camp wedding?! They chose Camp Friendship near Charlottesville, Virginia to host their fun filled wedding weekend! I mean how fun to get away with all of your friends and family and go to summer camp all the while getting to marry you best friend! They had all the traditional camp things like bonfires, archery, canoeing, and more. Then in the middle of all this summer camp fun, Johnny and Mary tied the knot! Right after their ceremony and continuing the fun, Mary and Johnny surprised their guest with a 3 piece horn section to lead everyone from the ceremony site to the cocktail hour New Orleans parade style!!
These two thought of every little detail to fully embrace the camp wedding vibes from little camp maps included with their invitation, trail mix for guest to enjoy during the ceremony, and even a canoe rides after they were officially Mr. & Mrs! They even had a creative “exit” (I say “exit” because they were not really leave the camp until the following day) using water lanterns. And would it really be Camp if there wasn’t a late night snack of Pizza??!?!
These two made their day their own and had an absolute blast in the process! And I for one am glad they choose me to capture it all for them!
