Taft Point Yosemite National Park Couple Session
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK! I think if you are a photographer and you love the outdoors Yosemite is one of the top places to shoot, at least it was for me! When I say it has been at the top of my list of places to shoot at for years... I MEAN YEARS! After constantly seeing photos from the iconic park and watching documentaries (Free Solo anyone?!) that included the park, I knew I needed to seriously make it happen! But every time I tried something would come up. One year the park was on fire and closed and then the pandemic hit. 2021 was a different story though! Fueled by the knowledge that Taft and Glacier point (two of the most iconic view points) would be closed for over a year starting in 2022, nothing was going to stop me from making it happen! I blocked off the time on my calendar months in advance, bought permits and found people to come exploring with me! Some friends and I arrived the day before my first shoot to explore and let me tell you there is nothing like driving through the tunnel and seeing that iconic apple computer background view for the first time. I think everyone in the car was screaming as Dolly Parton's Jolene blasted from the speakers. We did a hike and explored my shoot locations for the next day. It was a great start to the trip until we got service back! Some fires in the Tahoe area gave us a bit of a scare, thinking that they might close the park. Thankfully the park stayed open and we were able to finish the rest of our two days in the park.
The following day we met up with Kathryn & David for their session. We started at Tunnel View for a few shots with both El Capitan and Half Dome in the background. We then headed into the valley! We ran around in the valley for a bit and then as sunset was drawing near we headed to our main destination, TAFT POINT. It is about a mile hike out to the overlook at Taft Point but the hike itself is just gorgeous! Seriously, we kept stopping to take photos on the way out because it looked like an enchanted forest from a Disney movie. We ended the day with the most perfect sunset over the mountains!
