Roan Mountain Foggy Engagement Session

This Past February I met up with Matt & Sarah in the mountains along the North Carolina Tennessee border for their engagement session/due to covid they had just gone ahead and gotten married. We had to relocate to Roan Mountain last minute because our first location was covered in snow and it was inaccessible. Which worked out well since they were coming from Tennessee and I was coming from Charlotte. My Drive to the mountains was super sunny and it looked like we would have the perfect day! About 30 minutes before I arrived it took a turn, a heavy fog rolled in and it completely covered the mountain views. As we headed up the mountain I told them that maybe the fog would maybe pass and we would still get some mountain views. Sarah replied she did mind the fog at all, It gave photos a whimsical look. She told me she actually found me on Pinterest from another foggy mountain session I had done at Max Patch so she was pumped out the fog! We got to the top of the mountain and instead of 360 mountain views, it looked like we had been transported too somewhere on the Pacific Northwest or the Scottish Highlands. It was so foggy that it was hard to see hikers until they were almost right next to us. Thankfully fog tends to make people leave so we had most of the mountain to ourselves except for a few passing hikers. As we are having fun and running around in the fog, I look down to check my photos and make sure they are coming out. When I look up (I mean like a few seconds later) the fog has almost completely cleared. When I looked down it was nothing but fog, when I looked up it was blue skies. LIKE WHAT?! I literally just froze in shock and was like what just happened. I quickly recovered and we embraced the now clear skies. We spent the rest of their session enjoying the views and the surprisedly warm weather we were having in February!

Which Photos do you like better? Fog or no fog?
