Roan Mountain Tennessee Engagement

This past June I got to meet up with Michael and Gabby in the mountains of North Carolina/ Tennessee for their engagement session! And the reason I say it like that is because this location called Roan Mountain literally sits on the state line between the two. Half of it is in North Carolina and the other half is in Tennessee! The parking lot for this trailhead sits between the welcome to North Carolina sign and the welcome to Tennessee sign. I guess that means the parking lot is in limbo?! Haha Anyways It’s a great little spot that is a short hike to the top and offers amazing mountain views all around.

Gabby reached out to me in early spring about capturing their engagement photos. Gabby is from Arizona and had worked with a photographer out there and wanted to find someone in North Carolina with a similar style and that is when she found me! Gabby being from Arizona and Michael from New York, they met in the middle at college in Colorado and fell in love. The two now live in North Carolina and that is how I came to photograph this special season of engagement for them! We met at the parking lot at the trailhead and made the hike together including their Pup Winnie who became my assistant for the day! Winnie did a fine job of letting me know the appropriate distance Gabby and Michael should be away from us and my camera! Haha We ran around the mountain laughing and avoiding all the other people having their photos taken at the top. We stayed up there soaking up the fresh mountain air until the sun had set and the moon was high in the air. It was the perfect day with these two.
