Norfolk Botanical Garden Wedding
If you read Stuart and Kelsey’s Engagement blog you know Stuart and I go back years! We both served as Youth leaders for our church for close to 10 years. There were many summer camp adventures, crazy stories and that one stop worship band tour in a RV with no AC in the middle of summer in the SOUTH! Haha SO needless to say this was an extra special wedding to capture!
Kelsey and Stuart both absolutely love plant life! So when they started looking for a wedding venue they wanted to find a greenhouse. They looked at several places and ended up picking the Norfolk Botanical Gardens in Virginia. It just so happens to be Virginia’s larges botanical garden with many beautiful locations for weddings. Believe it or not these two pulled this stunning boho inspirited wedding together in just 100 days with the help from friends and family! YES I SAID 100 DAYS! They thrifted the rugs that lined the aisle, had friends hand paint signs, and pulled the reception decor together! Oh and did I forget to mention that Stuart & Kelsey are also musical geniuses?!?! Well they are and music is actually how they met. Kelsey was already a part of Regent University’s Chapel Worship team when they needed a keyboard player, thus enter Stuart. So including music was another big thing they wanted for their wedding. They ended up writing and recording together the music they walked down the aisle to and they had the worship team they are both a part of lead worship during their ceremony. Like how FREAKING special is that?!?
This day was filled with so much love and laughter, but it did have a few hiccups as most weddings do. They ended up having to push their ceremony back 45 mins and by the time it had ended the sun was pretty much set. We were able to grab some photos of the bridal party and family after the ceremony, but went ahead and decided to schedule a bridal portrait session after the Wedding because of the timing. Once these two lovebirds got back from their honeymoon to Europe we met up in downtown Norfolk for coffee and then ran around Norfolk shoot their portraits. This after-the-wedding session gave us so much time to have fun and get creative. We played on Lime scooters and ended the session on the top a parking garage!
