Women's Club of Portsmouth Fall Wedding (Faith & Walter)
There is something truly special about capturing a wedding for friends. It’s more than just documenting a love story—it’s witnessing and preserving a piece of their journey in the most meaningful way. That’s exactly how I felt when Faith and Walter asked me to photograph their wedding. I’ve known Faith for years, and in December 2017, she actually won an engagement session with me. We had an amazing time capturing their love, but let’s be honest—we absolutely froze our butts off in the cold! Despite the chilly weather, their warmth and connection shined through, making for some stunning, heartfelt images. Shortly after that session, they reached out again and asked me to photograph their wedding. I was beyond honored and so incredibly excited to be part of their big day!
Fast forward to September 21, 2018—the day Faith and Walter would say “I do.” As soon as I arrived at the Women’s Club of Portsmouth, I could immediately feel the love and excitement in the air. The venue was buzzing with the energy of friends and family coming together, helping with last-minute touches, and making sure every detail was just right. There’s something so beautiful about a wedding where loved ones are so deeply involved. You could see the care and thought poured into every part of the day, from the carefully arranged florals to the personalized decorations that made the space feel intimate and warm.
Faith was an absolute vision. She radiated joy, elegance, and grace, and the moment she stepped into her dress, it was clear that today was going to be nothing short of magical. When I saw Walter, his face said it all—pure happiness. From the moment he laid eyes on Faith, he couldn’t stop smiling, and that smile never faded for the rest of the day.
The ceremony was one of those moments that felt frozen in time, where nothing else in the world mattered except the love between two people. As they exchanged vows, there were tears, laughter, and the kind of emotion that reminds you exactly why you do what you do. It was a beautiful reminder that weddings aren’t just about the big, picture-perfect moments—they’re about the raw, real, and deeply personal ones, too. The way Walter looked at Faith, the way their hands intertwined as they made their promises to each other, and the way their loved ones teared up in the audience—it was all so incredibly heartfelt.
After the ceremony, we took some time to capture portraits, and let me tell you—these two absolutely rocked their couple portraits! Their connection, their chemistry, and their sheer excitement to finally be married made my job so easy. Every frame was filled with joy, elegance, and that effortless love that makes for the most timeless images. The golden hour light was on our side, creating the dreamiest glow around them. It was the perfect setting for capturing their first moments as husband and wife.
And then came the reception—what a celebration! The room was filled with so much love, laughter, and of course, a whole lot of dancing. From heartfelt toasts that had everyone tearing up to the dance floor packed with guests who truly knew how to have a good time, it was a night to remember. One of my favorite things about weddings is watching the couple soak in every moment, surrounded by the people who mean the most to them. Faith and Walter did just that. They laughed, they embraced, they danced their hearts out—it was everything a wedding should be and more.
As I look back on their wedding day, I’m reminded once again why I love what I do. Capturing weddings isn’t just about taking beautiful photos; it’s about preserving the feelings, the fleeting moments, and the once-in-a-lifetime memories that couples will cherish forever. Faith and Walter’s wedding was a perfect reflection of who they are—kind, loving, and full of life. I am so grateful to have been the one to document their love story and to celebrate with them on such an important day.
