Roan Mountain Tennessee Rainy Elopement

The rhythmic pitter-patter of raindrops against lush greenery, mist-draped peaks looming in the backdrop—what could be more enchanting than a mountain elopement amidst a gentle shower? This opening sentence from chatgpt sounds like something out of a romance novel but if I were to classify Nate & Kayla Mountain elopement it would definitively be a romantic comedy. With lost keys, forgotten silverware, and the hero Susie Bell we did not know we needed. The mishaps of the day make this special day all the more unforgettable with a wedding story that will not bore the grandkids for sure.

Nate & Kayla’s Wedding day began as a beautiful sunny day in the Tennessee mountains.  We decided to meet in the parking lot at Carver’s Gap and hike up together since there is no cell service in this part of the mountains. As the time of our meeting came close and I was waiting in the parking lot, I had no idea the story that was already unfolding. Staying in cabins near by, Nate & Kayla began to pack up their car to come meet me, but in the process their car keys got locked in their cabin. With no cell service  and no wifi they had no way to call for help. Nate not letting anything stop him from getting to their wedding began to try and flag people down for a ride. Enter the story of Susie Bell, a nice older lady that finally agreed to take them to a ranger station for help, but on the way decided she would take them all the way to our met up location. They arrived just a few minutes late with their cake in hand! We began the hike up the mountain and laughed at the craziness of the morning, unaware that it was only the beginning. Nate’s parents and brother had gone up to the top of the mountain earlier to claim a great spot for their ceremony. We met them at the top and they had picked a great spot that was secluded with an amazing views. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful with tears shed, but soon after the ceremony the weather began to turn. A fog started to roll in. We quickly did some family portraits and portraits with their pups. Their family then headed back down the mountain.  We headed to another location to do their privates vows. Nate made it through his vows, but part of the way through Kayla’s vows the fog overtook us and it began to rain. It started slowly at first, and then we were caught in a downpour. They were down to embrace the rain and so we just ran around the now empty mountain to capture memories. After we were throughly wet, we headed down the mountain to cut their cake. Only when they went to cut the cake did they realize that they had forgotten the silverware, but what was a little forgotten silverware to stop them from enjoying their cake. Going with the flow like the rest of the day, these two just decided to eat it one bit at a time.

After this day, I would have to say there is nothing more enchanting than a rainy mountain elopement.
