Max Patch Foggy Mountain Couple Session

Max Patch Foggy Mountain Couple Session

If you have been around here long enough or if you follow me on instagram, then you probably know that I love a good couple session in the mountains. Actually I just love being in the mountains period, but always made better when I get to explore with a rad couple! A fellow wedding photographer friend and I had been eyeing and wanting to shoot at Max Patch for a while. With its epic 360 mountain views why wouldn’t we?!?! Tucked right on the North Carolina and Tennessee boarder and only a short little hike to the top, it was the perfect change in scenery to have a fun little shoot and try new things! So we found an amazing couple, Cassie & Evin and planned for a fun little adventure. Now Max Patch is about a 8 hour drive from Virginia Beach. I had to wake up in the middle of the night on the day of our session and drive to Greensboro, NC where I met my friend and then we made the remaining 3 hour drive together. On the drive there it looked like we had picked the perfect day, it was sunny with blue skies and it was warm which is rare in NOVEMBER! As we got to the base of the drive up the mountain things got a little interesting! First off we go from a paved street to a tiny dirt path on the side of the mountain. Im talking so tiny it looks like two cars won’t fit side by side and a straight drop off on the side. As we continued the drive up with all its sharp turns and switch backs, the sky began to darken. A thick fog rolled in and we could barely see a few feet in front of the car. As we reached the top it felt as if we had been transported to the Pacific North West and we were now a part of a twilight movie! I am not kidding… serious Twilight vibes people! Gone was the warm weather and the epic mountain views we had seen on Google, but that didn’t stop us. With the weather being as it was we pretty much had the top of the mountain to ourselves, so we ran around and froze our butts off! And I am not being dramatic about that last part because the fog literally turned to ice in our hair! All in all this session did not turned out as we planned it, but sometimes you just have to roll with it and turn a foggy day into some  magic! It was definitely an adventure to remember!
